Angling (4)

Coarse fishing in the Greater Dublin area is centered on the rivers, lakes and canals that are located in Dublin city an its surrounding hinterland. There are literally miles of unexplored waters on the Royal and Grand canals as well as acres of scenic and secluded fishing on the Blessington lakes that will meet the needs of all coarse angling enthusiasts. All the usual coarse fish species are available including roach, bream, rudd, tench, hybrids, perch and eels.

The River Liffey is also a popular venue with coarse anglers and can regularly produce good bags of roach, hybrids, perch and some bream. Pike fishing is also available at a number of venues in Dublin. This information lists some of the more popular venues for coarse anglers in South Dublin County. Coarse fishing in Dublin is generally free, however an E.S.B. permit is required for all angling on Blessington lake (Poulaphuca Reservoir)

The members of the local angling club fish from the Waterside Pub in Clondalkin to the M50 bridge. Approximately 50 fishing stands have been installed here by Waterways Ireland.
The River Liffey rises in the Wicklow Mountains 12 miles south of the city of Dublin. From its source it flows in a long crescent for over 80 miles before entering the sea at Dublin Bay.
The River Dodder rises in the mountains above Bohernabrena Reservoir, South of Dublin and flows in a north-easterly direction for 14 miles through the southern side of Dublin City before entering the Irish Sea at Dublin Bay.
Corkagh Park Fishery is located at the back of Corkagh Park in Clondalkin. There are two lakes - a coarse lake and a trout lake. The coarse lake is approximately 4 acres and the trout lake 3.5 acres. The lakes are fed by a local river-the Camac- which runs alongside them and branches off into each.
